Mentone was laid out in the 1880s as a seaside resort named after Menton on the Riviera, which is why it has streets called Cremona, Florence and Venice. It sits on Port Phillip Bay about 21 km south-east of the CBD in the City of Kingston, and the 1950s brought new housing as the surrounding market gardens and farms were subdivided.
Finding the right electrician in Mentone starts with the type of home. More than half aren't separate houses: at the 2021 census, 37% were townhouses, semis or terraces and 18% flats, alongside 44% separate houses.
Mentone's resort beginnings left it some large early houses, and the old Mentone Hotel overlooking the bay has since been converted into apartments. In a house with that much history, the wiring has usually been redone in stages, so we test every circuit before assuming anything.
Where we find older cable or a board without full RCD protection, we explain the risk plainly and give you a fixed price to fix it.
Close to the beach, outdoor lights and power points are worth checking now and then, as salt air is hard on exposed metal.
How it works
No back-and-forth, no chasing quotes, no cowboy pricing. Enquire today, get a clear fixed price fast, and we'll have a licensed sparky on site, often within the same week.

Quick call, message or online form, takes two minutes. Tell us the job (or the problem) and we'll be straight back to you.
We inspect, then hand you one clear all-in price up front. What we quote is what you pay, zero surprise line items.
A licensed A-Grade electrician does the work to AS/NZS 3000, tests every circuit and leaves your place cleaner than they found it.
With more than half the suburb in townhouses, semis and flats, a lot of electrical work here happens in attached homes. In an attached home the useful upgrades are usually lighting, extra outlets, appliance circuits and smoke alarms.
In a unit block, tell us who looks after the common property, so any work near shared meters or walls can be arranged properly.
If you'd like air moving through bedrooms and living areas in summer without leaning on the air conditioner, a ceiling fan is worth considering. It has to be secured to the ceiling framing rather than hung from plaster alone, and the blades need at least 2.1 metres of clearance from the floor, as our fan buying guide explains.
We can swap an existing light for a fan, add a wall control or run a new circuit if the room needs one.
